Which Laptop Should I Buy: Mac Or Windows?

Mac or Windows

The battle between Apple and Microsoft has been around for a long time and it only seems to get better. Initially, everyone was quick to say a Mac is far better than a Windows PC, but nowadays there are varying views as to which is better.

In essence, choosing between these options all depends on who you are and what you're going to be using the laptop for. I mean, why spend a fortune on a pretty laptop if all you do on it is watch movies or send some emails?

In deciding which to buy between a Mac or a Windows PC, you need to consider some important factors that differentiate them.

1. Usage

Now, a programmer will have greater use of a laptop with better processing speed, application terminal, and screen options compared to a content writer who will not need so many technicalities.

The right laptop for you has a lot to do with what you will be doing on it. If you're a game lover, Windows is perfect for you as it offers more gaming options compared to Mac. However, if you want to focus on work, it's better to get a laptop that will help you do just that in the fastest and easiest way possible, as is the case with Mac.

Also, we all know that there's a high level of "class" attached to Mac owners compared to PC owners. Undoubtedly, there are many who choose Mac over Windows simply because it's more expensive and will make them look cooler.

If looking cool and having expensive gadgets is a priority for you, then definitely, Mac is it.

2. Processing & Connections

MacBooks have been known for faster processing speed, which is why they are preferred for certain jobs as they have much better graphics and design applications.

You will often see creatives and designers with Macs because they offer much stronger applications and high-quality as computers.

In addition, you can be assured of secure and fast connections to WiFi and other computers when using Mac. It is not uncommon to see a Windows PC having connection issues.

3. Cost

One of the greatest reasons you may be finding it difficult to choose between a Mac and Windows laptop is because of the huge difference in cost. Macs are generally expensive, and depending on your usage of the laptop, the cost may not be worth it.

On the other hand, you can get a PC with similar specifications that will get the job done, although not as good as it would appear on a Mac.

The price is justified if you really need the unique features of a Mac but spending that much on a laptop is not wise if you're just starting out as a designer or programmer and working your way up the financial ladder.

4. Reliability & Maintenance

The best thing about Mac is that it is so reliable. You will rarely have to fix any issues on it, while Windows has one problem or the other, every now and then.

While it does help you learn a lot about how laptops work (since you'll be fixing something often and need to make research on how to fix it), you will be spending a great deal of time on maintenance.

Mac offers ease of usage, you can use it for years without any problems.

5. Security

Windows PCs are generally less secure and are more open to viruses and malware. Macs, on the other hand, have very few viruses that can penetrate. To secure your PC, you will need antivirus protection while this is not necessary with a Mac.

So, which should you buy? Your bank balance, laptop usage and others mentioned above will tell you exactly which one is right for you.
